On Thursday, February 11, 2010, our Mom, Edith Elizabeth Van Sickle passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at Royal Inland Hospital, Kamloops at the age of 86 years.

She is survived by her five children, Ken Van Sickle (Mary), Betty Ann Beatty (Ross), Len Van Sickle (Kathy), Linda Fraser (Shane) and Bob Van Sickle. Her fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren have many happy memories of special times spent with “Granny”. Her sisters; Marion Sallenbach, Gertie McKeown, Margaret Hopkins (Bill), Dorothy McLean, brother Skip Stewart (Diane) and sister in law Gladys Stewart will miss her quiet presence at their reunions. Many nieces and nephews will have fond memories of Aunt Edie. Edith was predeceased by her loving husband Bert Van Sickle in 1994 and her brother Bert Stewart, brothers in law Jake Sallenbach, Bill McKeown and Don McLean.

Mom was born in Salmon Arm on September 2, 1923, and raised on the family farm at Mt. Ida. Following her marriage to Bert they relocated to Adams Lake in 1945, and moved to Squam Bay in the fall of 1947. Bert and Edith successfully ran a logging operation in the Johnson Lake area until 1959. In 1960, they returned to Adams Lake where they lived until moving to Chase in 1990. Most recently Mom resided at Parkside Estate in Chase and truly felt it was her home and the staff and residents there her new extended family.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff and residents at Parkside Estate for the many acts of kindness during her time there.

Should friends desire, donations to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, 311 Columbia Street, Kamloops, BC V2C 2T1 would be appreciated, in her memory.

A Celebration of her life will be held at the Anglican-United Church in Chase on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.
