Eric North was born on October 21, 1930 in Grande Prairie, Alberta and passed peacefully at Ponderosa Lodge in Kamloops, BC, on September 21, 2011 after a lengthy illness. He was 80 years of age. Eric is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Patricia North, of Barriere, BC, and will be lovingly missed by his son David (Susan) North of Barriere, daughter Rebecca North, stepson Norman (Lorraine) Rheault, daughter-in-law Penny Rheault; sister Doreen MacAlister of Victoria BC, grandchildren Summer (Murray) Borthwick, Shiloh (Breanne) North, Geoffrey Rheault, Michelle Rheault and her son Maddix. Eric was predeceased by his parents Charles and Mary North; brothers Stan North of North Vancouver, BC, and Reg North of Surrey, BC; sister Mary Mason of North Vancouver and Audrey Ellis of Cultus Lake, BC; stepson Donald Rheault; and stepdaughter Leah Rheault.

Eric spent over three decades at the helm as a tug boat captain, along the West Coast of British Columbia and the United States. He settled in Barriere in 1980. Eric was a kind and gentle man who will be dearly missed by many people, including the staff at Ponderosa Lodge. Private family arrangements made.
