Lil passed away peacefully on October 11, 2023, at Hamlets Long-Term Care Facility. She was a much-loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Lil was predeceased by her husband, Alv, in 1996, and her great-grandson, Alex, in 2020.
She is survived by her daughters, Marie (Rick) Foisy and Linda (Jack) Kelley, 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Lil was born in West Vancouver, and her family later moved to a farm in the Fraser Valley. As a teen and young adult, Lil worked picking hops in the Fraser Valley, at a fish cannery in Steveston, and in a sewing factory in Vancouver.
Lil married Alv in 1950, and they moved to Nanaimo where Marie was born in 1951. Then, they moved to Penticton in 1953, where Linda was born in 1954. The family relocated to Barriere in 1966. Lil had a deep love for gardening and operated a market garden in Barriere for several years until she and Alv began traveling the world.
After Alv's passing in 1996, Lil moved to a modular home where she enjoyed gardening, family visits, and going for coffee and lunch with her friends. She also cherished fishing trips to Port Renfrew for cod and salmon with Marie and Rick and visits to Denman Island to see her brother Harold.
In 2012, Lil moved to Ridgepointe Retirement Residence in Kamloops, where she continued to enjoy family visits and socializing with friends. As her health and mobility declined, she moved to Overlander Extended Care Facility in 2022 and then to The Hamlets Long-Term Care Facility in Westsyde.
Many thanks to all the staff at these three facilities for their kind, caring, and compassionate care for Lil, as well as to Dr. Kip.
The memorial service for Lil will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Kamloops Funeral Home, located at 285 Fortune Drive in Kamloops.
