Francis Eric Tucker

August 12, 2007

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Fran in a tragic logging accident. He was 65 years old.

Loving husband of 46 years to Donna Tucker, loving father and grandpa to Barb MacKinnon (Jevon and Cassandra), Connie Turner (Dan and girls – Jenessa, Alexis, and Kaylen), and son D’Eric Tucker. He is survived by his mother Edith Tucker of Moosejaw, Saskatchewan; brothers Larry (Cathy) of Clearwater BC, Garry (Anne) of Churchill Falls, Labrador, George (Lauraine) of Rockglen, Saskatchewan, Ross (Elaine) of Hayter, Alberta, and Rick (Dawn) of Avola BC; sister Wendy (Gene) Berezowski of Moosejaw, Saskatchewn; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was predeceased by father George Francis Tucker in 1991.

Fran was born in Saskatoon and spent his childhood growing up on a farm in Strongfield, Saskatchewan. He married his teenage sweetheart Donna, in 1961. They moved several times over the next few years as he worked on numerous construction jobs. He started logging in Prince George before settling in the North Thompson Valley in 1971. He contracted for numerous mills in the valley over the years. He tried his hand at farming for eight years, but found his heart was in logging and returned to the industry.

He was the leader of the Yellowhead 4H Club in Barriere for the nine years that D’Eric was a member. He enjoyed his time spent with the many young members of the club. He spent many hours teaching his beloved grandchildren about horses, llamas, and emus. The grandchildren will always remember their summer vacations at Grandma and Grandpa’s. One of his favourite pastimes was riding his horse Redondo. He bought Red when he was a two year old and still continued to enjoy the occasional ride on his wonderful old horse. He spent his last years logging, working with his son D’Eric. He was tragically killed doing what he loved.

The Funeral Service was held in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 19, 2007 with Pastor Harry Bicknell officiating.

Because of Fran’s love for animals, we ask that you please make a donation to the S.P.C.A., 1211 – 8th St., Kamloops BC V2B 2Y3.
