Fred Jackson

February 28, 2003 — Frederick Henry Jackson of Victoria, BC. - passed away after a year long battle with cancer.

Born, Jan. 27, 1938 in Alva, Scotland. Immigrated to Canada in 1967 and worked as an industrial electrician at Alcan, Kitimat, BC. He began work with CNR in 1972 as a brakeman and retired an engineer.

The highlight of Fred’s working life and truly his finest experience was MLA for Kamloops, North Thompson 1991-1996

He achieved fulfillment of a life long dream to participate in political life to represent his constituents with honesty and compassion for the working people. Fred never strayed from the passion of his convictions and ideology. Fred was proud of his political stripe, being the color Red!

Beloved husband of Nanette [nee Blouin] and father to Gillian [Brad] McDermott — Westbank, BC. — Jayne — New Westminster, BC. & Andrew — Burnaby, BC.

Fred leaves to cherish his memory four grandchildren — Kevin Emory Andrew Wolfe — Michael, Morgan & Marlie McDermott.

He is predeceased by brothers James, John, Alexander Archie sister Jesse and both parents.

Fred is survived by brothers William, Adam, David, Irvine plus many nieces & nephews.

Memorial to take place in Kamloops, BC. on March 15, 2003 at St. Andrews on the square — 187 Seymour St.

Fred’s life will be celebrated by family, friends and comrades. Service will be officiated by Reverend Jack Phelps. Internment - Hillside Cemetery - followed with tea hosted by Kamloops North Thompson Constituency Association.

Donations in Fred’s memory will be gratefully accepted by the Victoria Hospice.
