June 14, 1932 - August 19, 2019
Glenford William Cochran, 87, of Barriere, BC passed away peacefully on August 19, 2019 surrounded by his family at the Royal Inland Hospital.

At the age of 4, Glen and his sisters Rita and Mable, brother Marv and his parents hitched up their horses to three big covered wagons which contained all their belongings and headed to BC in search of a better life. After their two-and-a-half-month journey to BC and a brief two-year stint in Falkland, the Cochrans landed in Darfield in 1938. Glen remained in the valley for the remainder of his life.
Glen is survived by his wife of 60 years Jean, his daughter Glenda (D'Arcy) Feller and granddaughter Hannah as well as his close extended family; Sister in law Curly DeBodt, nephew Ken (LaVerne) MacDougall, niece Joan (Tom) Omasta, nephew Scott (Rae-Ann) MacDougall, nephew Larry Cochran as well as numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Glen was predeceased by his parents, his three siblings; Marv, Mable and Rita, brother in law & sister in law; Kit & Wally MacDougall, brother in law; George Gatehouse, nephew; Russ Gatehouse and great nephew Chris MacDougall.
Glen worked as a hunting/fishing guide with his Dad as a young man. They took mostly Americans into Fish Lake on horseback. Glen went on to work as a logger and machine operator in the bush. He also worked many years at Gilbert Smith Forest Products Ltd. and when approaching retirement, he was the groundskeeper at the Barriere Cemetery.
Glen met Jean Gatehouse at Kit and Wally MacDougall's wedding and they later married on Sept 12/59. They had one daughter - Glenda. Happily, Glen welcomed son in law D'Arcy into the family in 1992. He was overjoyed to have another man in the family. One of the best days of Glen's life was July 7, 1998 when granddaughter Hannah was born. Glen was happiest when he was with his family. Glen's other loves included playing and listening to music, the Toronto Blue Jays, the Vancouver Canucks, fishing & camping, gardening, playing horseshoes and crib.
Glen loved Barriere and the small-town life. He was one of the first members of Barriere's volunteer Ambulance crew. He was also a long-time member of the Barriere Improvement District's Water Board, a member of the Barriere Lions Club, a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br 242 and big part of the Barriere Horseshoe Club.
