Gordon Gilbert 1925 – 2006
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Grenville Gilbert on March 18, 2006, at the age of 80, after a lengthy illness.
Gordon is survived by his beloved wife, Freda Gilbert and his five wonderful sons Larry (Marilyn), Allan (Diane), Ken (Karen), Kip (Patti), Bob (Hope); 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also his brother Jack (Ollie) of Goderich, Ontario.
Gordon was born in Goderich, Ontario, May 11, 1925 to parents Fred and Beatrice Gilbert. Predeceased by his sister Eva and brother Ashley.
Gordon and Freda married in 1945 and recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. They moved their family west to Port Alberni in 1957, and then to Kamloops in 1964. In 1976, Gordon and Freda took up farming in Fort St. John. For the past 14 years Gordon and Freda resided in Barriere, B.C.
Gordon had a great love of fishing and exploring B.C.’s back roads. Gordon was a great husband and father and will be missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life was held on Sunday March 26, 2006 at St. George’s Anglican Church, the Reverend Isabel C. Healy-Morrow officiated.
