Harry Leroy GRIFFIN

August 8, 1926 – March 7, 2006

Harry Griffin passed away suddenly in Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital, Clearwater BC on March 7, 2006 at 79 years of age. A resident of Louis Creek BC for the past 9 years, Harry leaves behind Mary, his loving wife of 56 years, son Leroy (Judith) Griffin of Duncan BC, daughter Kathryn (John) Goulet of Quesnel BC, grandchildren Neal and Sheri of Duncan, Melissa of Kamloops and Crystal of Courtenay BC, as well as sister Maxine Bloomfield of Trail BC. Harry was predeceased by his parents, Levi John Griffin and Lucybelle Mae.

Harry was born in Premier BC. During the course of his life he performed various jobs: he was a truck driver (he held his Class 1 license until recently), a merchant marine, a tug boat operator and a coal miner. As a truck driver, Harry hauled cattle for 10 years and never lost one head. He received a letter congratulating him on safely driving 1 million miles; he never had an accident in his life! He was nicknamed “Idaho Spud”.

Harry loved to collect rocks, and he enjoyed his miniature trains. He was also a great traveller; if it involved adventure, Harry did it!

At the family’s request, no funeral service will be held at this time. Private family arrangements have been made. In Harry’s memory, people may wish to make donations to the S.P.C.A. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital, Clearwater BC, and all friends and neighbours in the North Thompson valley.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to North Thompson Funeral Services, 73 Taren Drive, Clearwater, BC, V0E 1N0, ph. 674-3030.
