In Loving Memory of

James Walter “Jim”

PETERS

Jim Peters passed away peacefully on January 8, 2009, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Altona, Manitoba on April 23, 1948, Jim is survived by his loving wife Lorraine of Barriere, BC, sons James (Berrie) of Barriere, Shane (Shawna) of Armstrong, BC, and Reggie of Barriere, granddaughters Hayley, Brooke, Ashley and Talea, brothers Ed (Anna) of Altona, and John (Debbie) of Barriere, and sisters Eva (Ben) of Altona and Rose (Dennis) of Ontario. He was predeceased by his sisters Esther (Vic) of Melita, MB and Ruth of Altona, and by his parents John and Katherine of Altona.

For the past 13 years, Jim has been designing farming equipment with an international corporation. That development has been patented in 64 countries around the world. He privately developed two other machines for the third world, doubling their crop output. A brilliant artisan, Jim was truly dedicated to his work. He loved to hunt, fish, draw and spend time with his family.

“All great men of history were driven by ambition, it goes hand in hand with power. Contrary to public opinion, the world is not divided by good and evil, but between those who do, and those who do not. The visionaries and the blind. The realists and the romanticists. The world does not turn on good deeds and sentiment, but on achievement. JIM was a great achiever. A kind, gentle, UN-pretentious man, his legacy will never be forgotten. I am proud to say he was my friend. I miss you, Jim. N.D.L.”

A Memorial Service for Jim was held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Pentecostal Church, 818 Amnesty Way, Barriere, BC. Donations in memory of James Peters to the Marjorie Snowden Hospice House, Kamloops, BC, would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements entrusted to North Thompson Funeral Services, Barriere, BC, 250-672-1999.
