Joan Doreen Monteith (nee Tilitzky), of Louis Creek, BC, was born June 22, 1947 in Abbotsford, BC. She passed away suddenly on November 24, 2007 in Louis Creek, BC.
Joan is survived by husband Roy Monteith, daughter Rene Pike (Paul) of Merritt, BC, daughter Tena McKenzie (Todd) of Oyama, BC, and son Timber Monteith (Jason) of Shanghai, China, grandchildren Ryan and Cole Stevens, Samuel Pike, and Cassidy and Tate McKenzie, and one sister Marlene Monteith of Terrace, BC. She was predeceased by her mother Elizabeth Tilitzky and her father George Tilitzky of Chase, BC.
Joan provided home care and worked at the Pioneer Residence and Barriere Group Home for many years as a care giver. For the last five and half years she was on long-term disability.
Joan was a member of the Legion, Branch 242, and volunteered much of her time over the years. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved flowers and gardening, mowing her lawn with her riding lawn-mower, and travelling with family and friends.... especially when it included visits with Timber and Jason in Egypt and China.
Joan also enjoyed photography, crocheting, and playing card games with family and friends. Joan was a mother to more than her own children. She was also known for her wacky sense of humour and always had a sincere smile for everyone. She has given her family and friends joy, and many fond memories. She will be missed dearly as she was loved by all who knew her.
A Memorial Service was held for Joan Monteith at the North Thompson Fall Fair Hall in Barriere, BC, on Thursday, November 29, 2007.
