It is with great sadness that the family of John Wassing announce his peaceful passing on August 23rd, 2006 after a short battle with cancer, with his family at his side.
Dad was born and raised in Holland, where he met and married the love of his life, Maria, in 1945. They immigrated to Canada in 1950.
Dad was well known for his love of gardening.
Dad was predeceased by his parents, sister Christina, and brothers Wim, Fritz and Eric and daughter-in-law Fiona.
He is survived by his loving wife Maria, brothers Tony, Leonard, Jack, Ken, and Hank (in Holland), sister Yonna, as well as sons Leo (Irene), Bert (Sandra), John (Maria), and daughters Jacqueline (Eldrick), Mariane, and Rita (Dwight) as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks for the compassionate care given him by the staff at Hospice House in Kamloops and by Kathy and Angela and everyone at Barriere Senior’s Haven.
A Memorial Service was held at the Evangelical Free Church, McBride, BC, on August 30, 2006, with Pastor Dan Carlaw officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home, 72 Whiteshield Crescent South, Kamloops, BC, V2E 2S9, in memory of John would be appreciated.
