February 23, 1954 - April 1, 2021
It is with sad hearts we announce John Patrick Murphy passed away April 1, 2021. Pat was born in Ottawa, Ontario Feb. 23, 1954.
Patrick is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Beverly, his beloved children Shawn Murphy (Tara), Tricia Murphy, Russell Murphy (Jessica), grandchildren Aiden, Liam, Cameron, Connor and Ember, his mother Dorothy Boudreau, sisters Donna Bradley and Linda Dias. Patrick was predeceased by his adopted parents Geraldine and Gord Martin and his father Gerald Murphy.
He was blessed to have found his biological family very recently after years of searching.
Patrick was Irish at heart and truly lived his life by Murphy's Law. He grew up in the Ottawa area and later Windsor/Detroit area before moving the BC in 1972 where he met his wife Beverly and married in 1975. They then moved to Golden, then Cranbrook and settled in Barriere in 1989. Patrick also spent many years working in the Ft. Saint John area.
Pat loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping and motorcycling. He loved an adventure and was a man of many "short cuts" that always led to taking twice as long to get there.
A carpenter by trade but dabbled in everything. He loved taking things apart and rebuilding them. He had a busy brain that wanted to know how everything worked and loved to invent his own way of fixing things and making them work better. He was always making his daily "to do" list and living by his motto, "Tomorrow I'll get organized". Always busy, busy, busy even when his health began to fail.
Patrick was a calm, peaceful, carefree man who loved to pitch in and help others. He had a crazy sense of humour and loved telling stories of being the Murphy he was, but his stories will live on. The family would appreciate anyone with a great Pat story to please write it down and share it with us.
A celebration of life will be held in July, Covid permitting.
