Patricia Dionne (nee Allen)

May 24, 2018

May 29, 1933 - May 24, 2018
The family is sad to announce the death of Patricia Mary Dionne, nee Allen in Quesnel, May 24th. Pat was born May 29th, 1933 in Darfield, the fourth girl, and sixth child of George and Kathleen Allen. She went to school in Darfield, Round Top (where her mother, and later her sister Kay taught), McBride, then Kam High and finally Normal School in Victoria. She would later go to several sessions of summer school at UBC to attain her B.Ed.

Once she had completed Normal School she taught in a dizzying variety of public school districts including Buckridge (near Quesnel), Castlegar, Clearwater, Prince Rupert, Kitimat, Williams Lake, North Kamloops, Beattie in Kamloops, and finally at the Catholic school in Ft St James.

It was in Fort St James she met her husband, Leo Dionne. They were married in Barriere on December 28th, 1968. This year they would have celebrated their 50th anniversary. In later years Pat divided her time between their home in Watson Lake (where Leo was an airplane mechanic) and her daughter Fiona's home in Langley where she could be near to her beloved grandchildren as well as escape the harsh winters in the Yukon.

Pat loved her grandchildren, her garden and her crosswords. She will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her husband, Leo, her brother, Brendan and daughters, Bernadette (Kevin) and Fiona (Gordon), and her son Peter (Tammy) and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Brendan, her parents and three sisters and two brothers.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Kamloops at 10:30 on June 16th.
