He met Mary in Kamloops, and they married Oct. 24, 1959.
He hired Mary’s father, “Bert” Evans to drive his truck in Merritt. In Sept. 1959, they purchased a “cat” and formed a partnership, Evans & Makowichuk.
Bert drove the cat, and Peter continued hauling.

Bert quit driving truck when he suffered a heart attack just after he turned 65. Peter logged for Balco (Tolko) for 29 years. Peter and Mary moved to Heffley Creek in March 1960 and to Barriere in 1998.
