Peter was born on the family farm in Edwand, AB, to a family of eight girls and four boys.

Predeceased by his father John and his mother Katerina, brothers George (Joe), Semion (Sam), Harry, sisters Olga, Rose, and Jean.

Survived by his sisters Mae Stasiuk, Elizabeth Boyarchuk, Lily Pirnak, Anne Pirnak, and Irene Ketsa, brothers-in-law Nick Stasiuk, Peter Franchuk, sisters-in-law Jean Makowichuk, Wanda Makowichuk, Elaine Jenkins.

Also survived by his wife Mary, son Mike (Donna), Sheldon and Shay, daughter Gail (Reid), Eric and Stephanie, son Dave (Louise), Sakwuwa, Sumahltza, and Nikia, son Peter, son Terry (Alice), Justin and Lane.

Peter worked on the farms while he was growing up. He came out to B.C. three times, finally settling in Kamloops in 1954.

He worked at Mt. Lolo while it was being constructed as a Radar Base, and then he hauled rough lumber to planer mills in Kamloops and Merritt.

He met Mary in Kamloops, and they married Oct. 24, 1959.

He hired Mary’s father, “Bert” Evans to drive his truck in Merritt. In Sept. 1959, they purchased a “cat” and formed a partnership, Evans & Makowichuk.

Bert drove the cat, and Peter continued hauling.

In December 1959, they started to log for Balco Forest Products in Heffley Creek. That was the start of E & M Logging Ltd.

Later Bert decided to drive logging truck and Peter took over the bush end of the business.

Bert quit driving truck when he suffered a heart attack just after he turned 65. Peter logged for Balco (Tolko) for 29 years. Peter and Mary moved to Heffley Creek in March 1960 and to Barriere in 1998.

A Celebration of Peter’s Life was held at the Heffley Creek Hall August 20, 2011. No flowers Please. You may make a donation to the Charity of your choice if you wish.
