Raymond William Harris

On April 25, 2003 Mr. Raymond William Harris passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side.

Ray was predeceased by his father William and his mother Marie.

Ray’s life revolved around his family especially his soulmate and loving wife Betty who he adored for 48 years.

His is also missed by sons Bill (Tracey) Harris of Prince George, Tom Harris, Ken (Wendy) Harris, Dan (Janice) Harris and daughter Linda (Wayne) Ewashina all of Barriere. Also his stepfather Stan Jones of Logan Lake. Ray also enjoyed the company of his grandchildren who he influenced with his thoughtfulness. Pte. Adam Harris, Jennifer and Todd Harris, Rob, Chris, Amanda Harris, Lindsay, Ashlynn, Chelsea, Justin Harris and Keyvan and Kobe Ewashina. He was also survived by brothers-in-law Mike DeNeef and Frank DeNeef and sister-in-law Maureen Guile.

Ray was born in Nanaimo in 1933.

After school Ray began his 38 year career with the CNR in Kamloops as a conductor. Over the years Ray enjoyed spending time with his horses, fishing, camping and gardening. He was instrumental in starting the fire department in McLure where he lived for 27 years.

Ray and Betty moved to Barriere 3 years ago to be closer to their family.

A Memorial Service was held at the Barriere Lions Hall, with Reverend Lloyd Strickland officiating.
