March 14, 1937 - September 27, 2022
After a long and adventurous life, Ron passed away in Kamloops, B.C., at the age of 85 years.
Ron is survived by his children Michael (Evelyn), Caroline (Mark), and Kathryn (Darren), his grandchildren Curtis, Kathleen, Thomas, Fraser, Fay, Evan, Rachel and Jessica and great-grandchildren Mikaela, Marley and Riley and his sisters Sheila and Lois.
Ron is pre-deceased by his wife Doreen and granddaughter Brittany.
Ron grew up in Winnipeg and had a fascinating career in aviation. He followed his dream to become a pilot, beginning with fuelling planes at the Winnipeg Flying Club, to working as a bush pilot in Uranium City, Sask. Here he met the love of his life, Doreen, and they had their three children. Ron's career took him to Yellowknife, N.W.T., then to Vancouver and Toronto, where he was a commercial airline pilot for Wardair.
Ron played many sports in his youth and became an avid armchair sports enthusiast in later years (go Blue Jays!). His family was very important to him, and he captivated them and his friends with tales of his adventures during expeditions in the far North, and his trips to various cities around the world.
After the passing of his wife Doreen, he resettled in Chilliwack and then Barriere, B.C., where he spent his final years.
Ron was never short of visitors, the fortunate ones spending time with him on his houseboat at Dunn Lake. There will be no formal service at this time, but we will be toasting his life with a final sunset cruise.
