1913 — 2005

The family of Tony Rudlang sadly announces his passing at Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital in Clearwater on Aug. 24, 2005, at the age of 91.

Tony was born in Fagness, Norway Dec. 26, 1913, one of three children.

Tony was predeceased by two sisters; Mary Sjovald and Jenny Odergard. Tony came to Canada at the age of 15. He married Clara (Baldwin) April 29, 1935. They celebrated their 70th anniversary this year.

The couple farmed for a few years. Later, Tony worked in a small lumber operation, made cedar poles and worked for Swanson Lumber Co. making roads. Later he had his own logging outfit.

Tony left the logging industry in 1963, and developed four subdivisions in Blackpool.

Tony and Clara have three daughters: Dorothy Braaten, Muriel (Robert) Smith and Katie (Lawrence) Redman. They have eight grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The two traveled extensively. Tony was member of Elks Lodge 499 for quite some time. He was also very interested in politics throughout his lifetime. Tony worked with the development of the Yellowhead Highway 5 and the local ski hill.

A memorial service was held at the Free Evangelical Church, Aug. 28 at 2 p.m. Lloyd Strickland officiating. Lunch was served at the Elks Hall following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital in memory of Tony.
