William George Mattenley

On Saturday, February 24, 2007, Mr. William George Mattenley of Clearwater passed away at the age of 86 years in the Dr. Helmecken Hospital.


Bill was predeceased by his parents George and Annie, brothers Wilfred, Ray and Earl and sisters Norma Brundage, Eleanor Heath and Helen Fadear.


He is remembered by his three children; son Lance (Lorna) and their children Curtis (Carilyn) and Dustin (Megan), daughter Debbie Mattenley and son Robert (Mary); and his former spouse Lil (Hector).


Bill was born on January 17, 1921 in Kamloops, B.C.


Over the years Bill worked at a number of occupations from Vancouver to Blue River, he also served his country overseas during overseas during WW11. Bill was very much a part of his community. He was involved in the Fire Department, Search and Rescue, Ambulance, the TNRD Board, Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Helmecken Hospital Board and the Clearwater Lions Club. Bill loved baseball; he was an avid umpire, coach and announcer. During the winter months he was an active member of the curling club. Bill was affectionately known at the unofficial "Mayor" of Clearwater.


A casual celebration of Bill's life was held on Saturday, March 3, 2007 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #259, Clearwater with Mr. Lloyd Strickland officiating.
