Yvonne Jean Lapin of Kamloops, B.C., formerly of Barriere, B.C., passed away on April 8, 2017, with her family by her side.

She is survived by her daughters Marlene Gray (Eldon), Theresa Lapin, Corinne Flamank (Brian) and Cathy Van Lersberghe (Joe). Her grandchildren Sean, Darren, William, Tyler, Michael, Steven and Catherine, as well as eight great grandchildren.

Yvonne is survived by her sister Jackie Grist.

Yvonne was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Jack Lapin in 2007, and her sister Liz Catto in 2012.

Yvonne was born in Vancouver, B.C., on October 16, 1931. She was the second of three girls born to Arthur and Jean Dawson. She attended Templeton Junior High School and worked briefly as a telephone operator at BC Tel.

She married Jack on August 18, 1951, and together they raised four daughters. In 1964 the family moved to Barriere, B.C., where they resided for 43 years until Jack’s passing.

When her daughters were young she was involved in Brownies and Guides. Yvonne was a long-time member of the Barriere Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Barriere Lady Lions. She served in different areas of these organizations.

Yvonne spent many hours in her garden and enjoyed camping with Jack. Retirement brought winters in Yuma, Arizona and Caribbean Cruises.

After Jack’s passing, Yvonne moved in to Kamloops and resided at the Kamloops Senior Village until her passing. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Unit 2A at Kamloops Senior Village for their care and compassion.

No funeral by request. An open house for family and friends will be announced at a later date.
