93.1 The Bear approval day set for September 12

letter to the editor from Steve Shannon, 93.1 the Bear, Barriere's Radio Station

To the editor;

Oh Barriere, how patient you have been.

It is with great confidence I say your wait will be worth it. As owner of 93.1 THE BEAR and a new citizen of Barriere I would like to thank the residents of this community for their tremendous moral support during this long radio station application process.

This is a wonderful community and it is my goal to make sure the radio station is an intricate part of this community and its inevitable growth.

Over the last year I have been fortunate enough to find and build a team of incredible talents from right here in Barriere, talents that have stepped up to the plate to help make this radio station something we can all be very proud of. I am so proud of our team and you will be too as you are listening to The Bear.

The work has just begun; we will be developing more talent from the area to host radio programs that will enhance our programming schedule to serve all citizens of Barriere from teens to seniors.

The CRTC will make its final decision on my application on Sept. 12, and all indications are that a positive “approved” decision will be made.

Once a positive decision has been made by the CRTC a technical test will be carried out that will allow us to go on air and broadcast 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

It has been a long wait for all of us, however Barriere is about to reap the benefits of having its very own radio station, and I thank you all once again for your patience and encouragement – it has been heartwarming to say the least.

Steve Shannon.
