Children’s Wish Trail Ride coming again to Clearwater

The third annual Wish Trail Ride in Clearwater will be held on Sunday, May 29.

To the editor;

In support of the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada, the third annual Wish Trail Ride in Clearwater will be held on Sunday, May 29.

The event will support Children’s Wish in their ongoing mission to grant the wishes of Canadian children aged three to 17 with life-threatening illnesses, while also providing a wonderful opportunity to partake in family-friendly horse riding activities.

Over the past three years, Bill Dowds has organized this Wish Trail Ride to raise funds for these children and bring the Clearwater community together.

Trail rides such as this one contribute to raising funds for children like Audrey who was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma at age three. In order to attend treatment sessions in both Vancouver and Seattle Audrey had to leave her home in Prince George where her father and brother stayed for work and school.

When she found out she’d be getting her wish, Audrey knew right away what she wanted to do. She has always loved everything princess: costumes, dancing, make-up, crowns, and jewellery. Her wish was to go to Disney and meet her favourite princesses. She was especially excited to meet Rapunzel and see if Pascal, her pet chameleon from the movie Tangled, is real.

By making a donation, attending the post-ride barbecue, or joining the ride with your own four-legged friend the Clearwater community can support Children’s Wish, Bill, and the dedicated group of riders who raise funds to grant wishes to sick kids like Audrey year after year.
