PAUSE FOR THOUGHT: Find His Peace

Christ was in perfect harmony with God and so had perfect peace. Applause didn’t make Him prideful; censure and disappointment didn’t depress Him. He was always of good courage.

But many Christians have anxiety, troubled by lots of things. The reason is because they are afraid to trust themselves to God, afraid of what a total surrender might involve. But only by doing this can they find peace. The love of self brings unrest.

Worry is blind and can’t see the future, but God sees what’s coming and has His way to bring relief from any trouble. Our Heavenly Father has a thousand ways to make provision for us of which we haven’t a clue. When we make it our supreme rule of life to serve and honoUr God, He makes perplexities vanish and provides a plain path for our feet.

We read in Isaiah 26:3, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”

God tenderly watches over us to deliver from temptation, strengthen the weak, give wisdom to the ignorant, and heal the wounded. We may tell Him all about our anxieties and trials. He will give us strength needed to endure and opens the way for us to untangle ourselves from any embarrassment or difficulty.

If we were left to follow our own selfish will, it would lead us to reflect Satan’s evil ways. But God invites us to choose to follow His will, His high and noble way. Jesus gave an example of that kind of life. (John 6:38) He invites us to follow His way of supreme love for God and unselfish love for fallen humanity. He also will empower us to do this. (1 Thessalonians 5:24) Come now and find His peace.
