Pause For Thought: Just ask

Not much is told of Jesus’ early life. Only three texts record His early life before the age of twelve: Luke 1:80 – So the child grew and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of His manifestation to Israel. Luke 2:40 – And the child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon Him. Luke 2:52 – And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

In those Scriptures we can visualize the extraordinary character traits of Jesus even as a child.

* Increased in wisdom and stature—-having a bright receptive mind as He grew up.

* In favor with God and man—-a God-like character of truthfulness and unselfish courtesy, ever ready to serve others.

* Became strong in spirit—-and the grace of God was upon Him—-As a child, Jesus manifested the fruit of the Holy Spirit living in Him.

Galatians 5:22 – The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long sufferng; kindness, goodness, faithfulness; gentleness and self-control.

What a difference it would make in this old world for all of us to have that kind of character. Good news, it’s free for the asking: Luke 11:13 – If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.

How about let’s try to make our little corner of the world a better place to live, and just ask.
