Pause For Thought: Seek and find

Isaiah 7:14: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which is translated “God with us.”

Isaiah 7:14: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which is translated “God with us.”

The next morning after the angel visit, Mary hurried to tell Joseph, her fiancée, the wonderful news. Puzzled, Joseph listened quietly taking it all in, but later, he wondered about it all. He and Mary weren’t to be married for a while yet, and what would people say if she was pregnant before the wedding?

That night an angel appeared to him in a dream, telling him to not be afraid to take Mary as his wife for that which was conceived in her was of the Holy Spirit. She was going to bring forth a Son, and His name was to be called Jesus (God heals) for He would heal humanity from selfishness and lies. Joseph did as the angel said and took Mary as his wife.

Nine months later they traveled to Bethlehem to register for taxation as required by King Herod. So many had come for the same purpose, there was no place to stay. At last one inn keeper took pity and offered the stable behind the inn as a place to rest. And there the Creator of the Universe was born, His divinity clothed with humanity.

Angels just had to tell the news! Searching for anyone who would listen, they found shepherds in the fields talking about the hope of the Messiah. Lighting up the sky, the angels appeared to them with the wonderful news, “Messiah has come!!” Quieting their fears, they added, “You will find Him wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.”

Heeding the good news, they sought and found the Messiah. And so today, if we seek Him, we shall find Him.
