Request for community business owners

Letter to the Editor by Lindsay Arcand - Request for community business owners

To the editor;

As you know, we have been working diligently over the past several years to have our dream of a SplashPad become a reality. This has finally happened in the later part of August, and already the community has been enjoying the end result! Having our community come together to make this happen has been fantastic, and shows the true spirit of being in a small town.

What you may not know is that we do have some final details to finish on the SplashPad before Interior Health will issue us our permit to officially open it in the spring of 2017 ... things like sod, benches, and some additional concrete are required. This has led us to the ultimate conclusion that we have to embark on a final Apple Pie fundraiser.

To make this fundraiser run as smoothly as possible, it would be great if you as a business owner would consider ‘donating’ an employee for one of the two days that we will be making pies at the Lions Hall. For example, instead of having one of your employees show up for work at your place of business, they can instead come down to the Lions Hall, strap on an apron, and get to work slicing apples, making pastry, or washing dishes. It’s a great way for those of us that work to get involved in a community event, and helps to establish stronger connections within the community.

The days that we are making pies are:

Friday, Sept. 30 – 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 1st – 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Any amount of time that can be donated would be greatly appreciated. There will be a coordinator on site as well, if you would like a timesheet signed for administrative purposes.

If this sounds like something that your business could get behind, please email me at crazycampers@telus.net, or text me at 250-320-1824 to let me know, and I can answer any questions that you may have.

Again, thank you very much for all the support that you have provided over the past several years, and we look forward to wrapping this project up shortly!
