To the editor;

Upon completion of the 2nd phase of the Agate Bay boat launch, I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your contributions to this project.

I think the community will be really happy with this project.

I was on site when the project was completed and want to emphasize that this project would not have happened without the cooperative efforts of all groups involved.

This project was first explored about a couple of years ago when Thompson Nicola Regional District (TNRD) staff met with Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MoTI) representatives on site, at Agate Bay.

Contributors to the entire project include Argo Road Maintenance, Lower North Thompson Community Forest Society, North Thompson Communities Foundation, MoTI and the TNRD.

With multiple approvals and consultations required, including First Nations, Ministry of Environment, Interior Health, etc., it has been a bit of an uphill climb.

MoTI assisted with stakeholder consultations and approvals.

In addition to contributing funding, the TNRD was able to secure funding through the Lower North Thompson Community Forest Society and the North Thompson Communities Foundation.

It was a seamless process from my perspective, but I guarantee you it was not an easy thing to do.

The Argo crew, what can we say…..incredible effort guys! You have done the company proud.

There was a considerable expense to having a sizable crew available on site, for what turned out to be nearly two full days.

This community project would not have been possible without this valuable partner.

Getting equipment and materials to the site when needed, and during load restriction season was a huge commitment and invaluable contribution.

We often forget how a project like this takes away from other work that Argo has to complete in the spring, such as a massive sweeping program to get ready for paint marking…just to name one.

To pull resources away for this project shows an enormous commitment to the community on the part of Argo and I thank you all for that.

Again, thank you all, I thought that was a fun little project!

Hope we can do something like that again some time!

Bill Kershaw
