Always room for more players at Chinook Cove Ladies Golf

Who would have expected that Tuesday, May 20, would be so beautiful after the rainy long weekend?

Wow!  Who would have expected that Tuesday, May 20, would be so beautiful after the rainy long weekend?

Well, I guess 34 ladies did, because that is how many showed up to golf.  The warm weather continued into the evening and we all enjoyed good food and lively company on the patio.

Flight 1 winners were Tanya Desjarlais (low gross) and Deb Rainer (low net).  They received the prize money from our sponsor, Thompson Valley Awards.  Flight 2 winners: Leslie Stirling (low gross) and Joan Streadwick (low net) won the Stamer Logging prize.  Lindsay Arcand won low gross for Flight 3.   For those of you who aren’t golfers -  low gross is good, not bad.  Helen Fraser continued her marvelous putting streak and won the Interior Savings Credit Union prize by hitting only 15 putts.  On the other hand Joan Streadwick also picked up a prize from Interior Savings for most use of a putter (27).  Joan also had a long drive on Hole 5 to win the certificate from Rainer Custom Cutting.

“The Sisters” (as we call them) had a good night...picking up a number of prizes.  Betty Baillie had a long putt on Hole 3 (Estylo Hair Design) and a KP on Hole 4 (Bondar Forest Planning).  Irene also had a KP on Hole 4 (Carl’s Market Garden) and a long putt on Hole 8 (Station House Restaurant).  Hazel Cross had a long drive on Hole 9 to win the Barriere A & W certificate.

The rest of the pin placement prizes (say that fast three times) went to the following lovely ladies:  Susan Mitchell had a long drive on Hole 1 to win the Barriere Timber Mart prize.  Darlene Nickull hit closest to the golfer to win the Barriere Massage prize.  Crystlee’s Hair Design’s prize went to Brenda Carl for a long putt on Hole 2.  Audrey Rilcoe had a long drive on Hole 3 and took home the Country Store Antiques gift certificate.  KP prizes went to Tanya Desjarlais (Campbell & Company), Debbie Legaree (EBL Ventures) and Lindsay Arcand (Ron Wallace Trucking).  Debbie Rainer picked up the Pottery by Ramona gift for a long putt on Hole 5 and Babes Shanko picked up the Knights Inn certificate for her flight.  Deb also had a KP in 2 on Hole 7 (Shais Designs).  Carol Hindle came closest to the sand on Hole 8 (Val Bella Studio) and Shirley Ross had a long drive on Hole 9 (AG Foods).  Evelyn Lucas finished her round with a long drive on Hole 9 to win the Armour Mnt Office Services prize.

Now I am off to Nanaimo for a church “thing” and hope the sunny weather continues.  I am already looking forward to getting together with my golfing buddies next week.  Why don’t you join us?
