The Cougar Classic basketball tournaments at Barriere Secondary started last weekend with the Junior Boys finishing in third place.  Pemberton took first place, and Ashcroft second. Tournament All Stars for Barriere were Tyson Schilling and Aaron VanSickle. It was a hard fought tournament and the boys played very well in the game for third against Aberdeen Hall.

The Cougar Classic Junior Girls play Dec. 9  and 10, Senior Girls Jan. 13 and 14, and Senior Boys Feb. 3, 4 and 5.

The school also reports that Barriere Secondary’s Junior and Senior Girls volleyball teams enjoyed a strong finish in November.

The Senior Girls finished third in league and lost out to Immaculata and Aberdeen Hall in a challenge tournament to get to Valleys.

In the Junior division the girls made it all the way to the final round of the tier 2 playoffs where they fell to Valleyview.

Both teams had tremendous growth over the season.

A big congratulations to all the girls as well as coach Tiffany Bowser for all the hard work. A special thanks to all of the coaches who stepped forward to ensure that all the students have teams to play on; Tiffany Bowser, Kiera Eustache, Ian Mitchell, Steve Noble, Wayne Ross, and Jen Kerslake. Thank you also to all the parents who continue to support their children through athletics.
