BSS athletic report

IN DESPERATE NEED of a Junior Girls Basketball coach.

Barriere Secondary School athletics report the Boys Soccer ended their season a bit short, however they played a fantastic final game against St. Anns. Brandon Proppe stunned the St. Anns team by scoring the games’ first goal, and he nearly scored a second, but rang it off the post at 22 minutes in the first half. The boys lost their final game, 5-1.

Over the season, the boys consistently played a strong team game, and had many outstanding performances by the players, including Mason Mosdell, Quinn Brackmann, Keaton Noble, Will Beattie and Dustin Machny.

Junior Girls Volleyball came to an end the weekend of Oct. 28, where they travelled to Norkam to play in their final tournament of the season. The girls team worked hard over their season and improved immensely.

Thanks go to Erin Gammel-Therrien and Wendy McDermott who coached the girls this season.

Senior Girls Volleyball currently sit second in league play. Recently, they went 3-1 in their home tourney placing first overall, and 3-0 beating KCS, St. Anns and Logan Lake in league play. The team has put in a lot of hard work which is paying off in huge ways.

They have a playoff match up on Nov. 9,  for the right to attend Volleyball Okanagans. There is a chance the girls team will host that night at 5 p.m., if not they will travel to St. Anns.

Okanagans will be held in the South Zone this year (probably Princeton) on Nov. 18-19.

Basketball season is now here.

Junior Boys Basketball (grade 8/9) will be coached by Mr. Brady and Anfinn Siwallace; Senior Boys will be coached by Dean Cruzelle; Senior Girls will be coached by Ms. Trimble, but we are IN DESPERATE NEED of a Junior Girls Basketball coach. If anyone can help with the team, please contact Ms. Hamilton at the school. If there is not coach by Nov. 18, the Junior Girls season will be cancelled.
