Christmas coming to ladies golf

Ladies Night Golf at Chinook Cove Golf Resort by Leslie Stirling

Wow, someone or something must be looking after the ladies that golf on Tuesdays.  It rained hard all day Monday and it rained hard again most of Tuesday, July 5.  But that afternoon a small patch of blue appeared in the sky and slowly grew.  The rain stopped.  The grass dried.  And 29 ladies took to the fairways for a most enjoyable round of golf.  We were even able to sit outdoors on the patio for supper and prize presentations.

The Flight sponsors this week were Interior Savings Credit Union, Armour Mountain Office Supplies, Stamer Logging and MJB Lawyers.  Donna Salle scored a 45 to win low gross for Flight 1 while Susan Mitchell was close behind with a 46 (35.5) to win low net.  Ilke Marais posted a 48 to win low gross in Flight 2 while Deb Rainer was close on her tail with a 50 (34.5) to win low net.  In Flight 3 Susan Bondar scored a 52 to win low gross and Babes Shanko scored a 55 (35.5) to win low net.  Angie Rainer won low gross in Flight 4 with a score of 53 while Cathy Chornlesky won second low gross with a score of 57.  The Birdie pot and Deuce pot were both unclaimed and will be carried forward to next week.  The Ron Wallace Trucking prize and the Royal LePage/Westwin prize were also unclaimed but were distributed with the door prizes.

Wanda Amos had a most excellent round and took home prizes from Sam’s Pizza (short drive), Barriere A&W (long drive), EBL Ventures (KP) and Country Store Antiques (KP in 2).  Susan Mitchell picked up prizes from Station House Restaurant (long putt), Carl’s Market Garden (KP) and Pottery by Ramona (long drive).  Ilke Marais won prizes from Barriere Massage (long drive) and Campbell & Co. (KP).

Long putts earned prizes for Betty Foote (The Blue Jar Coffee Bar & Bistro), Brenda Carl (Val Bella Studio) and Susan Newberry (Estylo Hair Design).  Long drives were rewarded by AG Foods (Karen Peterson), Barriere Timber Mart (Emma Allen), and Rainer Custom Cutting (Audrey Rilcoe).  Joanne Lyle had a KP to win the Hub International prize while Evelyn Lucas hit a short drive on 5 to take home the gift certificate from Crystlee’s Hair Design.  Leslie Stirling will be dining at the Knights Inn thanks to landing close to the 150 yard marker on Hole 9 while Deb Rainer will be shopping at Gift ‘n Gab due to her skill as a putter.  She only used 14 putts for the entire round.  A number of ladies took home the golf ball gift bags from Barb and Carman Smith.

Christmas in July is drawing near (July 26).  Anyone wishing to take part should book their spots and carts this week.

Just in case I forgot to mention it before the supper for the evening will be a full turkey dinner including pumpkin pie.  Susan and her crew at the Chinook Cove do a fantastic job and I am really looking forward to it.
