Cloudy with a chance of showers…that is what my barometer was telling me. My first thought was I hate golfing wet. Debbie Rainer makes me golf on Ladies Night whether it is raining or not. Second thought was I should have a good chance of winning something if the fair weather golfer stayed home.

Well, it didn’t rain and they didn’t stay home so I didn’t win much. On Tuesday, May 14, 32 ladies took to the course and although the day was cloudy the temperature was quite comfortable.

The Flight sponsors were Campbell & Company, Kelly VanGenne (Expedia Cruiseship Centers), Barb and Carman Smith and Brian and Brenda Carl. Flight 1 winners were Louise Lodge (low gross – 40) and Susan Newberry (low net). Flight 2 went to Deb Legaree (low gross – 46) and Deb Rainer (low net). Flight 3 saw Evelyn Lucas (low gross – 51) and Jeannie Webber (low net) pick up the prizes. Flight 4 low gross was won by Anita Hill (57) and second low gross was won by Lois McInnis (62). Susan Newberry scored the single deuce to take home that pot while Susan Mitchell and Karen Peterson split the Birdie pot. The amount was quite nice as these were the first birdies of the season. The Chip In pot was divvied up by Audrey Rilcoe, Anita Hill and Lisa Galanov. Ainsley Gullage of Sun Life Financial sponsors the putt prizes. Susan Newberry won least putts with 13 while Stacey Gartner won the most putts with 27.

KPs in 3 earned prizes for Susan Mitchell (Barriere Timber Mart), Debbie Rainer (Bear Lane Bistro and Boutique) and Leslie Stirling (HUB International). KPs in 2 were made by Jeannie Webber (Ron Wallace Trucking), Anita Hill (EBL Ventures), and Karen Peterson (Little Fort Subway). KP prizes went to Susan Newberry (Royal LePage/Westwin Realty/Cindy Leibel), Ilke Marais (MJB Lawyers), Val Williams (Salle Ranch), and Betty Foote (Stamer Logging). Long Drives were made by Evelyn Lucas (Gift ‘n Gab), Betty Foote (High 5 Diner), and Doreen Landry (Thompson Valley Awards). The Short Drive prize went to Lisa Galanov (Barriere Motor Inn). Dorothy Warman was the most accurate driver and took home the prize from Quality Contractors. A number of ladies hit one or more balls into the gully to win the Rest In Peace prizes from North Thompson Funeral Services. The prize winning putters this week belonged to Karen Peterson (Mane Street Hair), Susan Bondar (Munro’s Clothing), Terry Blaeser (Rainer Custom Cutting), Jeannie Webber (Sam’s Pizza), Louise Lodge (Station House Restaurant), Susan Newberry (AG Foods) and Trish Thompson (Armour Mountain Office Supplies).

One of my favourite things is being teased and my second favourite is teasing. I am talking about fun teasing…not any of that bullying stuff. I would just like to say THANKS to all those fantastic ladies that not only handle my teasing well but hand it right back. Most Tuesdays I go home with a big smile on my face and a great chuckle in my heart.
