Our third Ladies Night held May 26 went well. The weather was gorgeous.
Forty ladies showed up throughout the day to golf and gab - all from the appropriate distance. It is a bit weird to just see my own foursome. It is a good thing that they are three of my favourite people. There was a slight (very slight) improvement to my golf game but still no prizes for me.
Registration fees covered the Flight winners’ prizes. This week we welcomed Kelly McNabney to our group and she walked away with the low gross for Flight 1 with a fantastic 41. Susan Newberry (44/32) took home low net. I understand that Susan Bondar had her best game EVER. Well done, Susan. She scored a 47 to win low gross for Flight 2 while Ilke Marais (49/34) picked up the low net. Trish Thompson scored a 57 to win low gross and Marie Hakes (58/37.5) won low net. Low gross for Flight 4 went to Cheryl Tenzer with a 54 score with Betty Foote in second place with a 66. Now if you are confused by the numbers in brackets the first number is the actual score and the second number is the score with the handicap deducted. If you are still confused I am sure you are not alone.
Rose Seymour was a happy camper this week. She made a Chip In from off the green to walk away with the $40 pot. The deuce and birdie pots continue to build. Leanna Layton (Sam’s Pizza), Carol Willox (MJB Lawyer), Deb Legaree (Station House Restaurant), Marie Hakes (Thompson Valley Awards), Marian Wallace (Brian and Brenda Carl), Evelyn Lucas (Campbell & Company), Terry Blaeser (HUB International), Jessica Thompson (AG Foods), Barb Smith (Barriere Motor Inn), Darleen LeCerf (Salle Ranch) and Susan Newberry (Salle Ranch). And the shaming continues for those ladies who drove their balls into the gully (North Thompson Funeral Services) - Marian Wallace, Betty Foote, Sue Syfchuck, Lisa Galanov and Lois McInnis.
Starting next week we are going to have a Toonie jar out to support the Junior program . We invite everyone to drop a toonie or two in the jar….as often as you like. If you prefer to make a larger one time donation feel free to do so.
We have some exciting news. Starting on Tuesday, June 2nd Chinook Cove is opening the kitchen for our Ladies’ Night. We will be able to dine on the patio and pick up our prizes on the spot. Of course, there are loads of changes to the usual way of doing things and we hope everyone will honour the rules.
If you just aren’t ready for this interaction but still want to golf that is perfectly fine. Any prizes not claimed in person will be put in an envelope and left at the pro shop. For the time being, if your number comes up in the door prize draw we will choose for you and leave it at the pro shop.
