Susan Newberry and Dorothy Warman celebrated their birthdays on Tuesday, May 26, in what I would consider the perfect way. They and 33 other ladies took to the fairways for a round of golf, a bite to eat and an evening of fun. Of course, some of us took the opportunity to gently tease the birthday girls as both had reached milestones.
The flight winners received prizes from Hub International (Flight 1), Campbell & Co (Flight 2) and Stamer Logging (Flight 3). In Flight 1 Marla Muldoon scored 43 to win low gross and Deb Legaree scored 48 (33.5) to win low net. In Flight 2 Jeannie Webber scored 52 to win low gross and Audrey Deveau scored 55 (37.5) to win low net. In Flight 3 Wanda Amos won low gross with a score of 61 while Darlene Nickull was crowned the most honest golfer with a score of 82. Donna Salle and Betty Foote split the deuce pot. The least putt prize from Interior Savings Credit Union went to Debbie Rainer by retro with a total of 15 and Joanne Lyle claimed the most putt prize with a total of 27.
Flight 1 pin placements went to Deb Legaree for a long putt on Hole 1 (AG Foods), Marla Muldoon with a long drive on Hole 2 (Barriere Timber Mart), Donna Salle for 2 KPs on Hole 4 and 6 (Bondar Forest Planning and EBL Ventures), and Carol Hindle for long drives on Hole 5 and 8 (Estylo Hair Design and Sam’s Pizza).
Flight 2 prizes were picked up by Joan Streadwick for two long drives on Hole 1 and 8 (Armour Mountain Office Services and Station House Restaurant), Evelyn Lucas for a long putt on Hole 2 (Barriere Massage), Betty Foote for a KP on Hole 4 (Carl’s Market Garden), and Cathy Theriault for a long drive on Hole 5 and a KP on Hole 6 (Knights Inn and Ron Wallace Trucking.
Flight 3 winners were Darlene Nickull for a long drive on Hole 1 (Barriere A&W), Marion Lodge for a long putt on Hole 2 (Crystlee’s Hair Design), Sue Paulhus for the short drive on Hole 3 (Country Store Antiques), and Joanne Lyle for a long drive on Hole 5 (Pottery by Ramona).
A few pins are open to all the ladies including the Rest in Peace prize sponsored by Carman and Barb Smith, the KP in two prize on Hole 7 won by Trudy Forsythe (Rainer Custom Cutting) and the long putt on Hole 8 won by Susan Mitchell (Val Bella Studio).
The Hole in One prizes remain unclaimed. Those prizes include a beautiful water colour of Hole 7 painted by Bob Stirling, a weed-eater donated by Barriere Auto Parts and a complimentary stay donated by Alpine Meadow Resort.
On a serious note I would like to mention how disappointed I am in the senseless theft and destruction of one of the Chinook Cove’s golf carts. It is upsetting to hear of this type of thing happening in this small town that I love dearly.
