Inaugural mayor and council elected for Barriere

Almost 800 voters took their future into their own hands last night electing the inaugural mayor and council for the newly formed District of Barriere.

Mike Fennell ran away with te top spot for mayor receiving 517 votes over his closest rival Bill Kershaw with 249 votes, and third place finisher Dan O'Connell with 27 votes.

Thirteen candidates stood for six councillor positions seeing the names of Kathy Cooper, Ron Glanville, Pat Paula, Virginia Smith, Ward Stamer, and Glern Stanley elected.
