Skiing and snowshoeing has been great so far this winter at the Barriere Forks Park. All ages have enjoyed the abundance of snow, the groomed and track set ski trails, and the scenic snowshoe trails along the Barriere River.

The volunteers who maintain this area enjoy Tuesday Ski and Teas, and the cozy warming hut at lunch.   Come and join in the fun on Tuesday around 11 a.m., or any day of the week.

The North Thompson Recreation Society has been providing a ski and snowshoe program for grade 8 students for four years, and the classes this year have been enjoying great skiing and a “snowshoe for knowledge” trail, where they stop along the way to identify trees, antlers, wood and animal tracks. This is all organized by Mary MacLennan.

On Jan. 31, there will be an afternoon/evening ski, with a potluck dinner at the warming hut. For more information call 250-672-9403.
