The Kurt Genier Memorial Slowpitch Tournament was held the weekend of June 12 at Barriere Ball Parks.
The tournament in Kurt’s name was organized by the Genier family and volunteers; games started on the Friday and ran throughout the weekend.
Eight teams participated, and by all reports the slow pitch tournament was competitive, fun and a great fundraiser with a silent auction and 50/50 draw.
Money raised from the Memorial Tournament was earmarked to be put into a trust fund for Kurt’s young son Deagan Genier.
The results of the tournament were:1st - Chicken Warriors, Kamloops; 2nd - Multiple Scoregasm, Kamloops; 3rd - Rockstars, Kamloops; 4th - Leftovers, Barriere (This is the family team and the team Kurt played on in the Barriere slowpitch league).
Other teams competing in the tourney from Barriere; Royal Flush, Mixed Nuts and Barriere Alcoballics, and from Clearwater the Pou ders which is a team that Kurt also played with.
