Ladies are still on the course at Chinook Cove

I thought for a minute that I had put a hex on our last few ladies nights with my comments last week about no rain. Turned out on Aug. 14, to just be smoke and not clouds.

Twenty-eight ladies turned out to play a round of golf and found it wasn’t quite as hot as it has been. We were finished early and enjoyed supper on the patio. My game wasn’t quite as exciting as last week but I was still basking in the glow and didn’t mind.

The low gross and low net winners had excellent scores. Janice Advent scored 45 to win low gross in Flight 1 while Susan Newberry picked up low net with a close 47 (33.5). In Flight 2 Kathy Cook scored a 48 to win low gross while Ilke Marais won low net with a 49 (34). Leslie Stirling won low gross in Flight 2 with a 51 while Babes Shanko was close on her heels with a 52 (34.5) to win low net. Flight 4 low gross winner was Lorie Chambers with a 56 followed by Deb Winiski with a 58. The Chip In Pot was the only pot won and it was shared by Marian Wallace and Catharine Phillips. Marian Wallace made the best use of a putter with only 14 putts while Brenda Carl took 23 putts to finish her round.

Thanks this week to those sponsors that give us their hard earned cash to hand out to our ladies. Royal LePage/ Westwin Realty/Cindy Leibel, MJB Lawyers, Salle Ranch, Stamer Logging, Barb and Carman Smith, Brian and Brenda Carl, Ron Wallace Trucking and EBL Ventures sponsor the KP prizes. Hub Insurance sponsored one of the KP in 2 prizes. Sun Life Financial/ Ainsley Gullage sponsors the most and least putt prizes. Low gross/low net prizes for Flight 1 and 2 are covered by Campbell & Company and Quality Contractors. Lana Laskovic of Armour Mountain Office Supplies sponsors 10 nights with gift certificates and 11 nights with cold hard cash. North Thompson Funeral Services supply the cash to purchase the balls, tees and markers that go to the ladies heading into the gully on Hole 7.

And now for all you folks who have stayed with me through the article here are the pin placement winners. KP prizes were won by Donna Salle, Audrey Rilcoe, Deb Winiski and Evelyn Lucas. KP n 2 prizes went to Susan Newberry and Lorie Chambers. KP in 3 prize went to Janice Advent. The Accuracy prize went to Audrey Deveau. The Short Drive was won by Betty Foote. The Long Drives were made by Val Williams and Deb Winiski. This was the week for Long Putts and the winners were Marla Muldoon, Kathy Cook, Babes Shanko, Wanda Amos, Barb Smith (twice), Susan Newberry and Evelyn Lucas.

On Wednesday, eight ladies travelled to Chase to golf in the Talking Rock Ladies’ night. We had a fantastic time enjoying the ride, the weather, the food and the fantastic company. The play was an interesting team net game that had me totally confused. Much to our surprise the team of Susan Mitchell, Deb Rainer, Marla Muldoon and Leslie Stirling came in second… just one point short of first place. Seven of the eight ladies took home a door prize. All in all the outing was very successful. Finally, summer is slipping away quickly. If you haven’t been out for a Ladies’ night you had best plan to come soon. Only a few nights left.
