One of the North Thompson Valley’s largest single employers opened for its 42nd season on Dec. 10. According to a recent report, Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing puts 220 people to work during the winter and about 100 in the summer.

“Nothing compares to the experience of heli-skiing and boarding in Blue River,” said Mike Wiegele. “It is unmatched anywhere in the world. From our amazing and massive ski terrain, unparalleled service, abundant amenities to our fine dining experience, Blue River is the ultimate powder destination”.

For the past 42 years, Blue River has been a postcard winter wonderland and a skier/boarder’s dream. With 1.7 meters of champagne powder in the trees and over two meters already in the alpine, the helicopters are flying and there is nothing but face shot conditions to start the season. The company’s professional guides spent 10 days training in these incredible conditions while the rest of the staff prepared the first-class resort for the opening day.

“Wiegele World” is located in beautiful Blue River, in one of the world’s most productive snow belts. Nestled in the heart of the Cariboo and Monashee mountain ranges, spanning over 1.2 million acres of terrain and encompassing over 1,000 peaks and runs, Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing offers unequaled tree and alpine skiing.
