North Thompson Recreation Society

Toques off to a terrific ski season. What a fantastic ski season we are having, great weather, abundant snow, and superb grooming have all contributed to another successful cross country ski league season.

Our nine week ski program has come to an end for our young skiers and we wound up the season with a motivating and exciting day of relays and challenging matches of tug a war on skis.

Homemade cookie medals were handed out to all the ski participants and to our supportive volunteers, as well as awards for the ‘most improved’ skier and the ‘most dedicated skier in each group.

The children, parents, and volunteers were then treated to a scenic lunch overlooking the Barriere River, and a delicious cake made by our Bunny coach, Gail Burkholder.

Success of the North Thompson Recreation Society (NTRS) ski program is the result of our reliable executive, our dedicated coaches, and our hardworking groomers; an enormous thank you to all the volunteers who make this ski program possible for our youth.

Congratulations to the following skiers who earned the ‘Most Dedicated’ and ‘Most Improved’ skier for 2011;

• Bunny level -M.D. – Nathaniel Piroska;  Bunny level -M.I. – Georgia Clough.

• Level 1-M.D. – Raymond Broere;  Level 1-M.I. – Christopher Piroska.

• Level 2-M.D. – JJ Sorenson;  Level 2-M.I. – Taylynn Eustache.

The NTRS ski trails are still in great shape for skiing and we will continue to groom them as long as the weather cooperates.

We welcome you to join us in our weekly Ski & Tea held every Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Barriere Forks ski trails.
