Morgan Spencer rides her horse through a course filled with obstacles that the pair must negotiate during the B&DRC Fun Day at the fall fair grounds in Barriere.

The Barriere and District Riding Club (B&DRC ) helped to ‘christen’ the new outdoor light horse arena at the North Thompson Fall Fair facility the weekend of June 18 with a “Here Comes Summer” Open Fun Day.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of many volunteers, both from the Riding Club and the NT Fall Fair, the new light horse arena was readied in a flurry of activity for a day of fun and games.

Organizers reported that in spite of the dismal forecast of rain all weekend there was a great turn out.

“The B&DRC must have a whole bunch of horse shoes stashed for good luck, because we seem to always have good weather for our play days!” said riding club president Ginger Chappell.

With the use of a state of the art timer and software program, results of the competitors’ rankings are now posted on the club’s website at www.barrieredistrictridingclub.com.

The generous lineup of sponsors is also listed on the website, and the club  thanked everyone for their support.

“Please see our website for B&DRC upcoming events and updates,” said Chappell, noting the club has a number of activities planned for the second half of 2011.
