Sun Peaks Resort announce Nov. 26 is opening day

If you love winter sports it’s time to pull out your skis or snowboard and get ready for a winter of fun on Tod Mountain.

Sun Peaks Resort announced this week they will be opening for the 2016/17 winter season this Saturday, Nov. 26.

A Sun Peaks representative says the weather forecast is quite promising for later this week with a combination of natural snow and cooler temperatures that will allow their snowmaking system to kick into high gear.

While terrain will be limited, things are looking up and the resort says they are excited to have people sliding on snow again.

Plans at this time indicate likely downloading on the Sunburst chair with skiing and riding at mid-mountain elevations.

Conditions permitting, they will also open limited Nordic skiing trails this Saturday. The outlook may improve later in the week and as conditions permit.

All tickets will be offered at 50 per cent off for opening weekend.
