Texas scramble keeps the ladies laughing

Tuesday Night Ladies Golf at Chinook Cove Golf and RV Resort

Wow, for the first time in my life I scored a 31 for nine holes of golf.  That is five under par!  Absolutely phenomenal!

Okay, I can’t really take credit.  August 18 was a Texas Scramble – a best ball.  And I had four fantastic team-mates.  And they had me!  I was their handicap.  We had a marvellous time and did loads of laughing.

The occasion was the Chinook Cove Ladies Annual Golf for Cancer night and 41 ladies did just that.  We also visited, laughed, sang, ate and won prizes.  And we raised money.

Between pledges, raffles and entry fees we raised over $4300 which was an increase over last year.  We all know someone who has been touched by cancer and we know how expensive the treatments can be.  Families have all sorts of additional expenses and their lives are turned upside down.  Raising funds for the Canadian Cancer Society to help assist with some of those costs is something we can do.

The low score winners were Leslie Stirling, Donna Salle, Cindy Leibel, Brenda Oakland and Kelly Van Genne.  Second place went to Jean Webber, Val Aylward and Susan Bondar.  High scorers were Deb Rainer, Lois McInnis, Charlotte Bremard and Lena Wienecke.  Second highest scorers were Rose Seymour, Carol Willox, Beth Huva, and Sue Paulhus.  The best costume prizes went to Bev Murphy, Lynda Dunlop, Denise Howe and Lisa Quidding.  The winners of the music puzzle were Val Williams, Barb Smith, Sandy Hultman and Susan Newberry.

Pin prize winners were to Lynda Dunlop (AG Foods & Rainer Custom Cutting), Donna Salle (Barriere A&W), Leslie Stirling (Barriere Timber Mart), Cindy Leibel (Barriere Massage), Betty Baillie (Crystlee’s Hair Design), Trudy Forsythe (Bondar Forest Planning), Val Williams (Carl’s Market Garden and Pottery by Ramona), Brenda Carl (Campbell & Co), Sue Paulhus (Country Store Antiques), Bev Murphy (Estylo Hair Design), Kelly Van Genne (EBL Ventures), Jeannie Webber (Knights Inn), Marnie Pfeifer (Sam’s Pizza), Susan Newberry (Station House Restaurant), and Barb Smith (Val Bella Studio).  But the real winner was the Canadian Cancer Society.

Thank you!
