The 1st annual Peaks Pedal Fest launches Labour Day long weekend

This Labour Day long weekend Sun Peaks Resort launches the first annual Peaks Pedal Fest. A three-day celebration highlighting the communities’ diverse and ever expanding biking culture. In Sun Peaks, avid freeriders through to casual cyclists will find an event suited to their riding style.

The lift company has made great strides in fostering a thriving bike culture over recent years. This encompasses all forms of the sport such as cross-country, downhill, all-mountain, fat biking, electric and road cycling.

The Peaks Pedal Fest aims to showcase this emerging community with a wide variety of activities and events for riders of all ages and abilities.

“Mountain bike culture is an important element of the summer scene here in Sun Peaks. Celebrating another great season with all our guests and locals is a perfect way to close our Bike Park operations on a high note. We look forward to Peaks Pedal Fest becoming a staple on the calendar for years to come,” says Aidan Kelly, Director of Sales and Marketing for Sun Peaks Resort.

The festival will kick off on Saturday, September 5, with the “Seek + Enjoy Poker Ride” for both downhill and cross-country riders. The 6th Annual “Yeah Bru! Dual Slalom Race” presented by The Bicycle Cafe and the “Kids Foot Down Derby” take place on Sunday with local pro rider Dylan Sherrard making an appearance.

There will also be complimentary guided cross-country bike tours running on Saturday and Sunday.

The Pedal Fest weekend will conclude on Monday with the “Molson Coors Lift and a Lager Wrap-Up Party” at the Sunburst mid-mountain restaurant, where both bikers and hikers can enjoy a cold beverage included with purchase of a lift ticket alongside a live DJ spinning music on the patio.

Riders are encouraged to join the resort in celebrating another fantastic season on the mountain, as the lift accessible mountain biking operations come to a close on Monday, September 7.

Cross-country trails in the valley will remain open through the fall, along with golf, horseback trail rides and other family-friendly activities.
