Three nights of Ladies Golf coming in September

Plenty of time yet to enjoy the greens at Chinook Cove Golf

Windy and warm…hot would be a more appropriate word for the weather on the night of Tuesday, Aug. 18. Thirty-three ladies turned out to golf a round, have some dinner, pick up some prizes and visit a bit with friends. Sadly the only prize I picked up was a new golf ball courtesy of North Thompson Funeral Services for driving my ball into the gully on Hole 7. Two other ladies joined me in completing that feat.

Deb Rainer was away camping with her grandkids. Donna Salle and Lois McInnis stepped up to help me with the bookkeeping process. Somehow I managed to confuse the living daylights out of Donna. Finally I told her that I often confuse Debbie but she just quietly does what I suggest. The confusion came over the dividing up of pots and as always we made sure that the winners got the maximum amounts. Brenda Oakland had a very successful outing taking home the full Deuce pot which has been building for a number of weeks and half of the Birdie pot. Ilke Marais took home the other half of the Birdie pot and half the Chip In pot. Carol Willox walked away the half of the Chip In pot.

Flight 1 was sponsored by The Smiths with Janice Advent winning low gross with a score of 43 and Brenda Oakland winning low net by retro with a score of 44 (35). The Carls sponsored Flight 2. Ilke Marais scored a 46 to win low gross and Jeannie Webber scored a 52 (34.5) to win low net. In Flight 3 Jess Thompson won low gross with a 52 and took home the prize courtesy of EBL Ventures while Deb Winiski scored 56 (35) to win low net from the same sponsor. Quality Contractors sponsored Flight 4 with Sharon Spooner winning low gross with a 60 and Rose Seymour winning second low gross with a score of 52. Janice Advent used 13 putts to win low putts by retro while Doreen Landry took the high putt honour with 24 putts.

So that gives you the pots and putts. What about the pins, you asked. The pins for putts went to Anita Hill (Barriere Timber Mart) and Jeannie Webber (T & T Liquidation). There were loads of long drives and here are the winners - Doreen Landry (Gift ‘n Gab and Station House Restaurant), Val Aylward (Munro’s Clothing), Cindy Leibel (Rainer Custom Cutting), Trish Thompson (Sam’s Pizza), Lisa Galanov (Thompson Valley Awards), Catharine Phillips (AG Foods) and Ilke Marais (Armour Mountain Office Supplies. Brenda Carl was closest to the 150 marker on Hole 9 (Barriere Motor Inn). KP prizes went to Marian Wallace (Royal LePage/Cindy Leibel), Evelyn Lucas (MJB Lawyers), Lorie Chambers (Salle Ranch), Lois McInnis (Stamer Logging), and Doreen Landry (Campbell & Co.). Ilke Marais won the KP in 2 prize (HUB International) on Hole 7.

Just a reminder that Aug. 25 is (was by the time you read this) our annual Cancer Fun(d) Rainer. We have three golf nights planned for September and then that is it for the season. It has gone by very quickly so if you haven’t had a chance to take in a Ladies Night you best do so sooner rather than later.

See you at the course.
