Over the Labour Day weekend on Monday afternoon at the North Thompson Fall Fair the Zucchini Races took place.

Thirteen enthusiastic participants built their vegetable vehicles, and then raced their “squash-mobiles” for ribbons and prizes.

Classes were offered for under 12, and 12 and over.  The rules were simple; “the veggie that gets the farthest down the track wins, regardless of whether or not the wheels stay on”.

There were a number of trial runs before the official racing began, giving the contestants time to test their designs and make any adjustments necessary (like repositioning a wheel that kept flying off).

All participants received a small prize for entering, while the winners received a larger prize and ribbons.
