You won’t believe this. We are almost half way through our Ladies Night schedule. I have been having such a good time and didn’t notice the weeks flying by. This past week on Tuesday, June 25, was our Four Club night. There is always much discussion among the 35 ladies about which clubs to pick with at least one being the putter. I know I must have mentioned a number of times that I thought I had brought the wrong ones but somehow I had my best game of the season so I guess I chose well. (I also chose well when I picked Bob Stirling to be my husband but don’t tell him I said that or he’ll get a swelled head.)
Our Flight sponsors this week were Campbell & Company, Kelly VanGenne of Expedia CruiseShipCenters, MJB Lawyers and Salle Ranch. Flight 1 winners were Louise Lodge (low gross - 42) and Susan Newberry (low net - 43). Flight 2 winners were Deb Legaree (low gross - 49) and Deb Rainer (low net - 53). Leslie Stirling won low gross in Flight 3 with a score of 49 while Val Williams won low net with a score of 51. First low gross in Flight 4 went to Betty Foote with a score of 59 and second low gross went to Anita Hill with a score of 60. The Birdie pot was split four ways: Catharine Phillips, Jan Advent, Marla Hajmerle and Louise Lodge. The Chip-In pot was split three ways between Susan Newberry, Jan Advent and Deb Legaree. My mathematical skills were well tested. The deuce pot continues to build. The putt prizes are sponsored by Ainsley Gullage of Sun Life Financial. Kelly VanGenne won Least putts with 12 while Wanda Amos took home the most putt prize with 29. The rest of us fell somewhere between the two.
And what about those pin placement prizes (try to say that fast three times)? Here is a hole by hole account. Hole 1 had two KP in 3 prizes from Quality Contactors and Rainer Custom Cutting and the winners were Catharine Phillips (Flight 1) and Darleen LeCerf (Flight 2). Hole 2 Long Drive sponsors were Sam’s Pizza and Station House Restaurant with Leslie Stirling (3) and Lois McInnis (4) picking up the honours. Hole 2 Long putts were covered by Little Fort Subway and Thompson Valley Awards with prizes going to Kelly VanGenne and Darleen LeCerf. Darleen also won the accuracy prize from AG Foods on Hole 3 while Leslie Stirling took the long putt prize from Armour Mountain Office Supplies. KP sponsors this week were Cindy Leibel of Westwin Realty, Stamer Logging, Ron Wallace Trucking and Barb and Carman Smith. The winners were Susan Newberry, Lois McInnis, and Louise Lodge while Lori Chambers won the KP in 2 on Hole 6. On Hole 7 Louise Lodge had the KP in 2 (Bear Lane Bistro) and Doreen Landry had the KP in 3 (Chad Belbin of HUB International). Lori Chambers had the long drive on Hole 8 (Gift ‘n Gab) and Barb Smith had the Short drive on Hole 9 (Munro’s Clothing Co.). Long Putt prizes on Hole 5 and Hole 9 went to Wanda Amos (Barriere Motor Inn), Kelly VanGenne (Barriere Timber Mart), Louise Lodge (High 5 Diner) and Carol Willox (Mane Street Hair). Those ladies driving their balls into the gully on Hole 7 were rewarded with tees and a golf ball from North Thompson Funeral Services, EBL Ventures and Brenda and Brian Carl. Ladies Golf has to be the only sport where you can get a prize for doing something wrong.
My closing thought for the week: Golf is a game where the slowest people in the world are in front of you and the fastest are those behind you.
