Those who practice yoga will tell you it is much more than  just a system of stretches, exercises and relaxation techniques. It is a spiritual and ascetic discipline, a part of which includes breathing control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures.  Yoga is being widely practiced for both health and relaxation, for all age groups.

The North Thompson Recreation Society has provided a very popular yoga program to area residents for the past six years, and have just announced their winter yoga sessions are about to begin in Barriere, and will be facilitated by a new instructor.

The Winter Session will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 31, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Activity Room at The Ridge, in Barriere.    The sessions will run for four weeks on Jan. 31, Feb. 7, 14 and 28. Note there will be no session on Feb. 21.

Those who want to join the Winter Yoga Session must pre-register and pay at the North Thompson Volunteer and Information Centre in the Ridge, or during Rec Society Ski registration on Friday, Jan. 6, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m., also at the Ridge.

Cost is just $60 for the four yoga sessions, plus $10 to join the Rec Society.
