SD73 joins others to help serve Christmas lunch at Barriere Secondary

The annual Christmas Lunch at Barriere Secondary has always been prepared and served by community groups organizations, or members of government. This year School District 73’s Superintendent of Schools Alison Sidow participated, as well as SD73 area Trustee Rhonda Kershaw. They joined other organizations such as the Barriere Lions Club, and the Royal Canadian Legion to join with the staff and students in sharing a Christmas meal together.

The annual Star/Journal Christmas Story Contest received a wonderful number of entries this year from area youngsters. Two divisions were offered; Division 1 for youth from kindergarten to grade 3, and Division 2 for grade 4 to grade 7. Young writers had the choice of three subject titles to create their 300 words or less submission: The dog who saved Santa, How would you bring Christmas to your community?, or The day after Christmas at our house.

The Volunteer Appreciation Banquet hosted by the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Association (NTFFRA) on Dec. 2 in the North Thompson Agriplex Hall was an amazing gathering of some 150 folks who make a difference in their communities. Attendees came from Kamloops to Clearwater to enjoy a delicious buffet supper with mountains of food and good people to share it with.
