If you are a visitor in the Biasotti’s home in Louis Creek you’ll notice a photograph of Mario Biasotti standing with Cameron Kerr at the Kamloops wildfire monument. The monument is about the 2003 wildfires, and Mario was used as one of the models for the work.

Another telephone scam

An area resident called the Star/Journal last week to warn others by reporting she had received a call from a phone scammer. She says the scammer said he called “about the error showing on your Windows based computer system”. The caller had a foriegn accent, and when she asked for his business name, number, and where he was calling from, he promptly hung up.

Literacy Day on Jan. 27

Family Literacy Day® is an annual initiative that takes place on Thursday, Jan. 27 to encourage families to learn together all year round. The theme this year is Play for Literacy. Playing games creates a strong family bond, promotes language comprehension and improves reading skills.

Barriere Secondary calls for nominations to Wall of Distinction

Barriere Secondary School created a Wall of Distinction in 2010, to recognize past Barriere students that have made a significant contribution or achieved outstanding status in their chosen fields of endeavour.

Key Tags protection

This year marks the 65th anniversary of The War Amps Key Tag Service. B.C. residents are already receiving their 2011 key tags. Support of this valuable service allows the Association to continue its tradition of “amputees helping amputees.”
