Two fined for discarding cigarettes

This past week traffic services members from Clearwater issued two motorists $575 fines for discarding their lit cigarette butts from their vehicles. On one occasion near Clearwater, police were following a vehicle when the officer witnessed the driver throw a lit cigarette out of his vehicle. This Alberta driver received a $575 ticket and a lengthy lecture from police.

Heffley-Louis Creek fire sparked by transformer

A fire on the Heffley-Louis Creek Road Saturday afternoon caused by a sparking transformer had Lower North Thompson Valley residents concerned. The fire was reported as under a hectare in size and that in fairly short order it had been extinguished by a helicopter dropping water on it.
